This 166 yard par three has a slow moving stream to tempt your tee shot. Once you are on the green there are devilish undulations that can leave even the best putters scratching their heads.
Pierz Municipal Golf Course
Eighteen holes, ninety years in the making.
The front nine was cut into this ground in 1935 by the Works Progress Administration. The back nine did not open until July 2025, so this only became a true eighteen a little over a year ago. Play always starts on hole 1.
No sand traps anywhere
The challenge is the ground itself.
There is not one sand trap on the property. The layout was completed in 1935 by the Works Progress Commission (WPA), and it has been kept in pristine playing condition ever since. It is challenging but accessible for players of all ages and skill levels, and the challenge comes entirely from the terrain, the way it rolls, dips and falls away under a green.
One golfer, GP Minnesota, put it plainly after a first round here: while there were no sand traps, the undulation of the terrain provided an enjoyable challenge. Another regular, David E., calls hole 4 one of the most challenging par threes you can ever play, and adds that he was impressed by how few bugs there are out on the course.
Deer on the fairways most mornings. It is a quiet course.
Worth knowing before you tee off
A few holes that will stay with you.
Hole 12, a short par four
A short par 4 that dog legs to the left. It rewards a tee shot that stays honest about the corner rather than trying to cut it.
Hole 5, par four
A par four playing 302, 292 or 275 yards depending which tee you play, straight off the tee sign on the course itself.
Pace of play and the grill
4 hours 15 minutes for eighteen holes.
That is the pace of play the course keeps to, and management asks every group to keep it. When you are done, come enjoy a beverage or a bite to eat inside the clubhouse. You do not want to miss one of the legendary burgers.

Course policies
Alcohol policy
To ensure the safety of our golfers, club visitors, and staff, we strictly enforce the following policies:
- All alcoholic beverages must be purchased from Pierz Golf Course.
- Outside alcohol is not permitted on the golf course grounds.
- Golfers found violating this policy will be asked to return any unauthorized beverages to their vehicle.
- Personal coolers are prohibited on the property.
- We reserve the right to confiscate any outside alcoholic beverages brought onto the property.
- Repeat offenders will be trespassed by law enforcement from the property for the remainder of the season.
Course regulations
- All players must have a valid receipt.
- Each player must have their own set of clubs.
- Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times.
- Pace of play must be kept at all times. Pace of play is 4 hours 15 minutes for 18 holes.
- Players must be 16 years old to drive a golf cart and have a valid drivers license.
- Carts and push carts must stay at least 30 feet away from tees and greens.
- Management reserves the right to regulate all play.
- Severe weather policy, players play at their own risk.
- Rain checks are issued for: A. Course closure due to rain and/or rain delays (over 30 minutes).
