The Works Progress Administration finished the front nine in 1935. It took until July 2025 for the back nine to open and make this a full eighteen. The campground sits across the water in the same park, and you can walk from a tent to the first tee.

Both banks
Most places make you choose. Here the golf is on one side of the river and the camping is on the other, and the walk between them takes about a minute. The clubhouse grill is open 11:30 to 6:30 for whichever side you are on.
Eighteen holes with no sand traps at all. The challenge is the ground itself, the way it rolls and falls away. Hole 4 is a 166 yard par three with a slow moving stream in front of it, and hole 12 is a short par 4 that doglegs left. Pace of play is 4 hours 15 minutes for eighteen. Nine holes on a weekday is $20 plus tax walking.

The back nine
Officially an eighteen hole course as of July 2025. The new nine is younger than the old one and it still looks it, which is honest enough. The greens roll true and the front nine is as good as it has ever been.
Built in 1935
The front nine was completed in 1935 by the Works Progress Administration, and it has been maintained by the City of Pierz ever since. That is the whole character of the place. It is a municipal course, it is priced like one, and the clubhouse is small enough that the staff know the regulars by name.
Seniors over 62 and military take $2 off any rate. Youth play nine for $5 and eighteen for $10. There is a full grill from 11:30 to 6:30 and the burgers are the thing people come back for.

Great course that is lots of fun to play. Scenery is gorgeous; ponds, tall pines, a creek...just a beautiful golf course. Plus swimming, a beach, picnic areas and a nice campground. On my bucket list again!
This was my initial experience playing golf at this course. While there were no sand traps, the undulation of the terrain provided an enjoyable challenge. I anticipate returning in the future.
18 holes of fun. The front 9 is beautiful. The new back 9 is kind of bare at this point.
Small town camping is the best! We have gone the same weekend for over 40 years. The river has a swim area and slides. There are two parks and nice bathrooms. Lots of space and flexibility to enjoy yourself. A big bonus there is a golf course located right there too.

Pierz golf course is a hidden gem in central Minnesota. The management and staff of the course are outstanding and make everyone feel very welcome. Hole #4 is one of the most challenging Par 3's you can ever play.
